Breast Procedures

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a type of cosmetic surgery procedure designed to increase the size, shape, and/or fullness of the breasts. It is a popular procedure to help improve the proportions of a feminine body, as well as to help augment their confidence. This procedure involves placing implants either above or below the pectoralis major (chest) muscles, and it typically takes 1-2 hours to complete. The results may last for several years. In some cases, additional touch-ups may be necessary to achieve or maintain the desired look. Breast augmentation can help improve the overall appearance of the breasts, as well as restore a more youthful shape and volume.

Breast Lift

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and reposition sagging breasts. It involves removing excess skin, reshaping the underlying tissue, and repositioning the nipple areolar complex to a higher position. This procedure can be done alone, or in combination with breast augmentation to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts. A breast lift can reduce sagging, restore fullness and volume, and provide better overall symmetry to the breasts. It is a great option for women looking to rejuvenate their figure, self-confidence, and overall outlook.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction involves surgical procedures (typically 2 to 3) to rebuild the form of a woman’s breast after it has been removed due to cancer, a precancerous genetic mutation, or another medical condition. This surgery can be performed right after a mastectomy or at any time afterwards. Types of breast reconstruction include autologous tissue reconstruction, implant based reconstruction, or a combination of both. The goal of the procedures is to create natural-looking breasts and to optimize symmetry and balance between the breasts. With advances in technology, modern techniques create a more natural appearing result than ever before. Breast reconstruction is a journey of physical and emotional healing, and Dr. Southard is here to support you each step of the way.

Breast Implant Removal

Breast implant removal is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of breast implants with or without removal of the surrounding capsule (if indicated). This procedure may be performed for medical reasons, such as infection or scar tissue contracture, or for cosmetic reasons, such as the desire to change implant size or type. The procedure is typically an outpatient procedure and is performed under general anesthesia.

Breast Reduction

A breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure intended to reduce the size and weight of overly large breasts. This can be done to alleviate the discomfort associated with large breasts. During the procedure, the excess breast tissue is removed and then the remaining breast tissue is reshaped, often resulting in smaller, more balanced-looking breasts. Additionally, the procedure can also tighten loose skin and reposition the nipple areolar complex. Breast reduction is an effective way to reduce the size of large breasts and can have a positive impact on quality of life.
