About Dr. Southard

Dr. Michelle Southard has a passion for plastic surgery. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, she has worked hard to perfect her skills and stay up-to-date on innovative techniques. Dr. Southard believes strongly in empowering patients with knowledge and helping them understand their options to pursue their desired aesthetic results. She loves being able to restore confidence and self-esteem in her patients and believes in natural, subtle beauty. With each procedure, Dr. Southard strives to achieve the highest quality of care while still respecting each individual's unique anatomy and desire for improved body shape and contour.

Michelle Southard, DO, FACOS, FACS is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who specializes in breast reconstruction and breast and body contouring. Dr. Southard completed her undergraduate education at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, a Specialization in Biochemistry with Distinction, and a minor in Spanish Linguistics. She attended medical school at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. She also received the Distinguished Student Scholar Award in Surgery. She then completed her five-year General Surgery residency at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas (now known as Medical City Fort Worth). During that time, she served as a Chief Surgery Resident and received the honor of Surgery Resident of the Year. Dr. Southard continued her training and completed a three-year Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Detroit Medical Center/Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She subsequently served on faculty at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and a practicing Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon for four years. In 2018, she earned the top score of her cohort on the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Board exam. In both 2019 and 2020, she was nominated and ranked in the top 3 plastic surgeons for Best Cosmetic Surgeon in "The Top of the Town" in the Lansing City Pulse magazine. In 2020, she returned to Texas to be closer to family. She now owns her own private practice in Fort Worth called Resilient Plastic Surgery, PLLC. She enjoys teaching and serves on clinical faculty as an Assistant Professor for medical students at both Texas Christian University Burnett School of Medicine and Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She also actively participates as clinical faculty for the General Surgery residents of the Texas Health Fort Worth General Surgery Residency program. In her free time, Dr. Southard enjoys volunteering with the Junior League of Fort Worth to support and give back to the Fort Worth community. She also enjoys running, cycling, high-intensity interval training workouts, playing the piano and the cello, traveling, medical mission work, and spending time with family and friends.
